The sand is so soft you have very low traction and have to work twice as hard to move forward. Add more weight with gear and it's like struggling against the TV version of quicksand. Neoprene is not your friend on the walk at this time of year, it is a much better walk in trunks and T-shirt when the water warms a little more.
