As a slight aside to this specific incident, but nevertheless interesting perhaps.

In recent "round-table" discussions, several leading tech instructors have batted around the idea of asking ALL course candidates to undergo a stress-test prior to participating in CCR classes. The suggestion being that this might serve to save lives.

Hi Steve, The cardiac stress test is recommended for all divers over 45 years of age by DAN. For someone younger with no risk factors it's probably not a good idea as aside from the expense, these tests can lead to false positives and result in further unnecessary testing.
