I saw this discussion on insurance and i have a question also about it if you guys dont mind me asking.

When should I get insurance?? I'm a new diver recently certified early this summer and have reached a max. depth of 80ft. With the dive season closing and only considering going on possibly 2-4 more dives which max. depth is only going to be 55ft. should i get DAN for the remaining time this year. I was just going to get it next year cuz i know i'll be diving much more then. Ne comments would be super....thanks.

My recommendation...

If you are diving without insurance, you are rolling the dice.

I would have dive insurance if I put a regulator in my mouth.

I have DAN if you were wondering.

I chose DAN.

In europe there are other plans than in the US but other options gave me only 4000 Euro coverage in the Netherlands (where I live) whereas DAN's coverage anyplace is 31000 Euro.

Since I have travel insurance that will cover all costs when I'm out of the country, my main concern is diving locally. What I'm doing for 90% any way.

So DAN is the better option for me.

Besides I prefer to spend my money on specialists than on some nameless company that knows zilch about diving...
