OK, it's Rapture Day... just wanted to see how many of my diving buddies are still on the planet and will attend this event. So far I'm still here so I guess I was a very bad boy. Maybe if I had given some money to Harold Camping to add to the reported $75 million he soaked from gullible "believers," I might not have made it.

UPDATE: Turns out my son is coming home on Tuesday (I just found out). So he's going to accompany me to be my dive sherpa. Also, I'm thinking we might just head over on the 5:45 pm ferry on Wed. night and spend the night. Looking around at hotels - Dr. Bill, got any suggestions? Don't want to spend a ton, but need a decent size room with two beds.

Dennis this means carpool is out - I'll PM you when I know for sure, but I'm 90% certain that's what we're going to do.

Not a problem. We will still see you there Thursday morning at the park. Still a bit concerned about the weight of my gear and getting from the dock to the park. Hopefully can share a taxi or use the luggage service.
Weather looks like it will be nice, sunny, mid 70's Air, water temp and VIS we'll see.:)
oh, the hermosa hotel gets recommended a lot here for divers, and the price is good, especially midweek.

LeeAnne, we've stayed at the Seaport Village Inn a few times. Reasonable rates, and they'll pick you and your gear up from the ferry landing, shuttle you and gear to the dive park and back, and drop you off at the ferry the day you leave for no additional cost (we do tip pretty well, though, for this great service). Rooms are decent. Might be worth looking into.

Elena thanks for posting the coupon! I completely forgot about that -- 'preciate it. :)

I'll check out the Hermosa and the Seaport Village Inn. I particularly like the idea of the pick-up and drop-off!

I've been working hard at physical therapy, and feeling stronger every day. I'm glad that my son will be with me to help me cart my gear, and think I still will need to gear up and down in the water, but my pain level is SOOOO much better and I'm really excited about getting back out there in the water. I haven't been dry this long since I got certified! I'm actually considering a trip to Cozumel over the week of July 4 to do several days of boat dives - I'm waiting to see how I do at DWADD to determine if I'll feel up to it.

Looking forward to seeing/meeting and diving with all of you!

I like the Seaport Village Inn , and the service that we've received has been above & beyond .. they have a place store some of your heavy gear , and a place you can rinse it off

Looks like my two suggestions have already been made LeeAnne.

Oh for pete's sake. Just heard from my son - the Army has decided to keep him for another month. So he won't be with me for DWADD. Wish they'd make up their minds! Fortunately I didn't book the hotel, so I'm just going to do what the rest of you are doing and take the 6:15 ferry on Thursday. Dennis I'll pm you a bit later, if you're still interested in carpooling - I'm camping up at the American River right now so wireless access is spotty.
