The electronic compass has always struck me as a classic solution to a problem that does not exist. Then again, if companies weren't always making up new problems we'd never buy anything!

It's not a solution to anything. It's just a bonus feature on a stop watch. When I found that it works as well as my standard compass, I just stayed with it and freed up some arm-space.
