That story is no longer available. This is why I like to copy & paste stories, altho the same news site has older stories about the dive op still available. :idk:

Conflicting witness reports raise serious questions about diver

Something more is going on here. For the Sun to even write such an article says something since the paper's owner is good friends with the owner of Amigos del Mar.
It certainly does sound fishy, like the dive op fabricated the claim of a heart condition. The family says he had no such problem and was in great health - still passing flight physicals if I understood correctly.

Amigos has made news several times in recent years...

Employ killed in tanks explosion: Tragic accident inside tank compression unit leaves 1 man dead - The San Pedro Sun News

Amigos' statement after the explosion: Amigos del Mar speaks on accident that resulted in one death

Amigos expelled from Padi, along with an instructor Mendez: PADI expels Amigos del Mar Dive Shop - The San Pedro Sun News
Padi apparently did not release their reasons for expulsion. A sexual assault of a teenage girl while training at the op's location is discussed, but the DM accused there was Cordon - not Mendez who was off that day.

Amigos trying to distance themselves from the sexual assault case saying neither Cordon nor Mendez were ever really employees: http://www.sanpedrosun.com/community-and-society/2014/12/24/amigos-del-mar-responds-allegations/

Interesting articles. Please note that Cordon, the man accused of sexual assault of the young female student was a DMC (Dive Master Candidate), not a DM. He should of course, never have been alone with the student in the water. It might also be interesting to know who suggested to the young woman to continue her training with the DMC (according to the article) and if he or any other DMC's had conducted unsupervised training before and if anyone was aware of it? The money trail notwithstanding.
