Geezus Rhyme...........I've even sent you a ton of photos showing you what Beqa is all about, Don't know what more to do other than send you all 900-1000 photos I shot during 12 dives there.

trust me, it sure beats anything you got local in Chicago......and is way far better than the Carribean. Diving is only part of any trip, the people and culture and new experiences are also to be figured in.

We are novice divers who celebrated our 25th anniversary in Fiji in June, 2005. We splurged and spent a thoroughly enjoyable week at Yasawa Island Resort http://www.yasawa.com/ We did 6 dives with them http://www.diveyasawa.com/ and found them comparable or better than the limited diving we have done in the Caribbean at the US & BVI, and Aruba. The coral was spectacular on several dives, especially "Rainbow Reef."

We then moved to the Mamanucas, where we stayed 5 nights at Malolo Island Resort http://www.maloloisland.com/ and then 7 at Lomani http://www.lomaniisland.com/ Other family members met us and we (9 divers) chartered unlimited diving with Subsurface Fiji http://www.fijidiving.com/ They were great to dive with and we enjoyed between 10 to 16 dives with them. We did not find the coral as colorful as in the Yasawas, but the Mamanucas had more fish, of which the largest were 6 foot reef sharks.

We went for more than diving and had several non-divers and all of us had a great time. I hope to post a longer report later with pics. Cheers, alashas

You only sent like 20 :) But yes, im convinced.

I believe the best way to dive Fiji is on a liveaboard. There are many beautiful sites that can only be reached this way. We thoroughly enjoyed our trip there in Feb. 2004.

I'd have to say Kadavu. I stayed at Dive Kadavu for 10 days last summer but I've read the service/resort has really gone downhill since then. Regardless, the diving around the island is spectacular and the resorts are generally lots cheaper than other areas of Fiji. Oh, and the manta dive is incredible, not to be missed! We stayed on Malolo Lai Lai for seven days after Kadavu and the diving just wasn't as good...dead coral patches, piss poor dive masters etc. My wife and I are still kinda new to diving and we ended up acting as DM’s, pointing out critters and interesting things and such. Turns out the DM’s on Kadavu taught us a lot in ten days.

I’ve heard from others that Bequa is awesome, and the liveaboards are supposed to be great as well. It’s all in what you can afford and want to experience I guess...

My wife and I visited Fiji in January 2004. This was the end of a 6 week trip that included Australia and New Zealand. Initially we were only supposed to be in Fiji for 5 days, but we liked it so much we extended to 10.

We stayed at Jean-Michel Cousteau Fiji Islands Resort , which was excellent.

The diving was fantastic. There is a day trip to Namena Island, where there is also an excellent resort.excellent resort

I highly recommend it.

Best diving we've ever done was Beqa and Viti Levu in 2004. Beautiful corals, lots of blue ribbon eels, massive amounts of pretty tropicals. Check out some of our pix:

Now, that said, I've never dived any other parts of Fiji. It's possible (though, I'd have a hard time believing it) that some of the other areas offeer better diving...

Hi Charlie78,
Please tell me who you dove with? I am considering trading my timeshare for one there.
Thank you Valerie
