Flood stage on the Choctawhatchee River is 12 feet. The river crested at 17.79 feet. That is only four feet beneath the Highway 90 Bridge at Caryville and Florida 279 between Caryville and Vernon is under water.

At this stage the river flows 86100 cubic feet of water per second. On March 21, 1990 the river crested at 21.21 feet and washed out the I-10 Bridge. The highest recorded level was 27.10 feet on March 17, 1929.

What does that tell you about March and the Choctawhatchee? I just hope all that fancy board work that they spent so much money on does not end up in Destin.

More pictures later in our dive reports...........Ever how quick this class is going to be.

Not looking good for our Cavern/Intro class, but Vortex still has good potential. I've never been to JB so don't have any clue what awaits us there.

Till tomorrow,

Kenny

JB might be fine, the Mill Pond is pretty resillient. It can get milky at times, but its not a usual occurance. Flood waters don't make their way into the pond since there is a dam downstream preventing river water from intruding(kinda like Vortex, on a larger scale).

Holy Snikeys! That's some impressive flooding! If it gets any higher, the lower cavern will be a deep dive! LOL!

Well we have a few weeks between now and SSFII!
