Wendy once bubbled...

Also were you planning on going to college? Maybe you can could study something like Marine Biology, etc. which would help you in the future if you still wanted to find a career with someone like National Geographic.

For what it's worth, I got OW certifed in college and two people in my class of 12 were getting certified simply because they were studying marine biology. The summer before they had tried to get internships with marine bio research places and everyone seemed to want divers.

I hate to say this, but if you really want to do research you should go to school. You can get into any field you want without formal training but its much easier with a degree. It's kinda of like booking a charter with out an OW card. You can get on but you need a log book to prove you belong there. Flashing your OW card cuts through all the bull****.

And as doppler said, Who the **** am I? I work for a UARC (university affiliated research center) and research "stuff" all day.

If you want to instruct, attend one of the many fine dive schools in Fl.
Pro Dive and E.A.S.E come to mind for PADI (I attended EASE).

You can then work your way up to PADI Tec Instructor
