PerroneFord:
Panama City has about 3-4 dozen dives, many are VERY nice. Magazine type stuff. But you have to go further out. I plan on doing a long trip out to the Grey Ghost this coming summer. Supposed to be a very nice dive.

When I went it was a last minute dive and hopped on the only boat available. Im sure there is more to see just didnt have the time to reseach. To bad the Orisskany is still floating!!!!!!!

It'll be a while before I could dive that big boy anyway. But it should be quite some attraction once it sinks. Hopefully it'll be sunk in FL.

I have spent a lot of time diving in the Florida Panhandle. The last link is for Vortex Springs. it is a neat dive. They also have lodging for reasonable prices. The best dives I have had are Pensacola (a few good wrecks and platforms), Destin (Liberty Ship and Army Tanks), Panama City (lots of wrecks and artificial reefs Best are Chippewa, Accokeek, Black Bart, Grey Ghost), and Mexico Beach (Empire Mica one of the best wreck dives in the panhandle).

The links below are for Panama City diving and Vortex Springs. I have used everyone of the dive shops listed and would use them again in the future.

OK, I have decided to take a cavern and intro to cave course instead. Has anyone on the list dived Morrison, Hole in the Wall or Jackson Blue. This looks like where we will be diving.

thanks

Thanks for the links!!!!

I've done Morrison several times (including last Saturday). I have friends in the other systems you mentioned pretty regularly. All very nice dives. Most of the folks here don't care much for Vortex. It's expensive, attitude of the owners is reportedly poor, and to be frank, I can only deal with beer-swiling rednecks so many times a decade. Morrison is just down the street, free, and usually empty or nearly so this time of year.

Best of luck here in the Panhandle. Maybe we'll run into each other. I try to dive here every weekend I can.

LOL OUCH! The caves are in the panhandle my friend. And if you don't consider that "real diving" come on up and show me how it's done! :)

LVX, since you and your buddy are deco trained, if you find yourselves with enough time on your hands and want to do a deep wreck that wasn't an intentional sinking, come down to So. Fla. and dive the Hydro Atlantic. Every deep diver down here boasts about this dive.
