I discovered streamlined diving by accident. I started diving a vintage double hose reg, just for get-wet quarry dives, and eventually shed the BC in favour of a vintage backpack with no buoyancy. I was surprised how much more efficient it was. I then started monkey diving, again just for get-wet dives. Finally I made a figure eight with rope and looped it around each arm and across my back. I put a d-ring on my weight belt and sidemounted a tank by clipping to the rope and d-ring. It worked great and I was tiring everyone out without working at all.

I'd like to dive with buoyancy control, partly because it's easier and partly to appease charters, but mostly because of safety issues. I'm trying to conceive of designs for a streamlined single-tank back-mount system.
