Have you tried Mozambique?

You're missing another mecca: Indonesia.

If you mean you have 3500 + money for a flight, you should easily be in.

The Brits on the boat last week said it was 8 hours to Dubai, then 8 hours to Jakarta.

Thanks Everyone

1) Yes, my budget is USD3.5k + flights on top .... don't get me started on the pound dollar exchange rate

2) I always travel on my own, I don't mind sharing with another traveller, but after fifteen liveaboards, on half of them I've had a room by myself, because I was the only single girl

3) Mozambique
yes, I've wanted to go here for three years, but there aren't any liveaboards
as soon as one launches I will be the first one to book!

4) Juliet
I've been on overnight trips on small sail boats before of 20 meters and I did not get on with them at all
I don't find them very stable and I get terribly sea sick
Even at 30 meters I don't think I can stay for seven days on a sail boat
And, I can't quite see where the space is for the sun deck, dive deck etc
I think these ocean going liners that I'm used to in the Red Sea have spoiled me

5) Indonesia
Yes, this is definately on my list
My trip in Feb 2010 was going to be Mando/ North Sulawesi, but then I decided to do Chuuk for the wrecks
I'm looking forward to reading High Desert's trip report

The other place I was considering is Palau

So, what do you think Palau v. Mando .... September/ October .... Liveaboard

#1.... Palau is awesome awesome awesome, but not in Sept/Oct as that is the rainy season, meaning constant downpours all day are possible. I know of one liveaboard that doesn't even sail during Oct, using it as time off for all employees and maintenance since diving is so poor then. If you want to do Palau, do a liveaboard for sure, but NOT during that time of year. Look at Dec-Apr for best shark action. :D

Mando? where is that? Do you mean Manado?
