DiverG once bubbled...
lal7176, which card did you get? Did you get from Amazon?
I ordered a Viking 256 MB CompactFlash Card for 54.99 with a 20.00 rebate. So after i receive the rebate it cost me 34.99. Yes it was through amazon. It is now advertised for 49.99 with a 15.00 rebate so it still costs the same in the end.

Thanks, I think I may just have to order it. Santa sure has been nice to me this past week, but I'm going to be glad when Christmas is over. :)

The Simpletec is rated at 10x, the Vikings are 15x
The cameras I have are all shooting jpegs and/or mpeg2 so I can't see much a difference, your mileage may be different if you're shooting the MB size files.
One of my cameras only goes up to 512MB for the CF cards; I'd been waiting on a 1GB card so I could load the entire operating system for redoing a stack of old rough service Itronix waterproof laptops. That's a whole other story though, I'm donating one of the critters to Suboceansafety.org for use with running deco software down in Nicaragua.

The CF microdrives are the largest, cheapest CF media. Are they too slow? Sorry if this is covered before, but I'm gonna buy media and need to know.

I seldom see more than a mouth from a moray, here is the whole eel, on a night dive when they are bolder.

Yah, the Microdrives are the cheapest, but the speed thing leaves a lot to be desired compared to a "normal" CompactFlash card.
It might be a worthwhile tradeoff if you're looking at getting something 2GB or larger, but when the regular CF cards hit $150 they're pretty darn close in price to the 1GB Microdrives. I think the extra speed is worth it, but your mileage may vary.
A couple of useful shopping websites are:

I'd been waiting for months for the sale + rebate to come out on those CF cards, they're not too easy to find if you're watching the pocketbook.
I remember when the SM 128 was like $199.... had to have it. In less than 18 months, $49 on ebay.
I have one of the first digital cameras made, an old Epson the size of a shoebox. Sold for $500 when it first came out, I got it 6 months later for $50 when the "new" model came out that was half the size.
I have one of those now too, except I only paid $35 for that one 'cuz I waited a whole year. :D
