Brian,

I'm just repeating what I have been told by Hollis. Sorry if it wasn't helpful.

No apology needed but I've been diving Oceanic's computers for ~15 years and downloading them as long. It would only make sense to me for Hollis and Oceanic to utilize their parent company's existing download program and cable (since their VersaPro cables mates perfectly to the DG02 port).

FWIW, Hollis added the download program literally just yesterday to their website. I'll install it this weekend.

Interesting that Hollis never did answer my questions directly but here's what I know works so far:

I have not tried using the Oceanic's OceanLog for downloading my Hollis DG02 (I'm using the DiveLog program from Hollis). It looks and operates *exactly* like OceanLog though so all they did was make changes on the front end of the user interface :)

I am also successfully using the USB download cable that also works with my older Oceanic VersaPro.

What about OceanLog? Do the Hollis computers also use it?

You have to use the hollis software then move the data file if you what to use it with oceanlog

Don't know that I'd go with this. Brian, take a multimeter to it and test the pin-outs.

IEEE standards for USB don't change, and as the standard sockets and such are easily available, it's not logical that they made a totally proprietary one.

The ver 1 cable may be USB 1 (slower) and the ver 3 could be the USB2 (faster).

They are two diffrent cables one has a smart chip used to activate the download timer.

Yeah it's a oceanic veo 180 with the Z+ algorthim and different sticker it's 10+ years old.
