My brother and I have booked a last minute trip to Holbox. We're heading down there next Friday (8/26/05) for three nights. Can anyone make a recommendation on where to stay while we're there. We've check the websites but there's only limited information. Some first hand knowledge would be great.

Check out the Paraiso del Mar Hotel. We were in Holbox the first week of July (link to our review is http://www.scubaboard.com/showthread.php?t=107009) and the couple we ran into loved it. My family went to see it and it looks like the best place to stay in town. I believe they had the two-story suite with hard wood floors and breakfast was included. You will need to rent a golf cart to be able to move around town.

Let me know if you need pics. I can email the couple.

Have a great time.

there are quite a few hotels on the island. your selection depends on do you want ac or not. that will effect the price but you may feel its money well spent in the middle of the summer and the wind dies. last year we stayed at Casa Sandra http://www.cancunsmart.com/hotel-casa-sandra-isla-holbox.php which was fine. two years ago we also stayed at Paraiso del Mar. Off hand i think its a little too upscale for where you are. rooms were nice but I think you can do better closer to town.
