I had that last time and it went away.

I once saw a knee specialist and he tried to tell me that I did not have one of the main ligaments in my leg.
So much for "experts".
 
Here is an article I wrote about ear problems, to try to help folks sort out outer from inner ear problems.

It is not clear from your post which type of issue you have, but Q-tips won't help either. Middle ear infections require systemic antibiotics, but a lot of post-dive ear pain is not infection, but barotrauma, which will not benefit from them. External ear infections are marked by pain when you tug on the outer ear, and involve swelling of the ear canal. They are treated with antibiotic drops, possibly also with a wick to get them through the swelling, and only if they don't resolve with that therapy are they treated with systemic drugs.

Inner ear problems related to diving are not infectious, but traumatic. They are the most severe ear injuries, resulting in hearing loss and vertigo, and should be evaluated promptly by a diving-savvy ENT physician.
