Hi fellow divers

Can anyone recommend on what chemicals / sanding? Require during regulator service.

I have used dishwashing liquid with brush, followed by 1:1 vinegar and 50’c water in ultrasonic cleaner for 10 minutes and this is what is left off.

Thank you for your advice

I just learnt the trick of using 10% Hydrocloric Acid solution recently… give it a soak for 3 mins and see?

Looks like the vinegar solution removed the verdigris, and what is left showing is the bare brass. Am I wrong?

This is an aqualung unbalanced piston

Unlike MK2 with bushing and plastic cover on the piston - the aqualung is just a bare metal spring against the piston and the regulator body… I guess that’s what made the mark there

We used a ten percent solution of the phosphoric acid / detergent product , hempocid, for years, followed by serial fresh water washings; but, from what I can see in the OP’s photo, it looks like bare brass and not corrosion . . .

Yes, the spring scratched the chrome surface, and the ultrasound cleaner removed it, so you're down to brass.....
