Isla Mujeres Whale Sharks

Hi Everyone -

I'm getting excited for my trip to Isla Mujeres at the end of the month. I've charted a boat for two days to snorkel with the whale sharks. I know the season has only been open for just over a week but I'm wondering if anyone has been out yet. Anyone have any early season reports? Are the sharks present? In what kind of numbers? etc... Would love to see some pictures as well if anyone has taken any yet this year.

Some of our clients went out last Saturday, and even the conditions were not the best, they saw few whale sharks and were able to snorkel with out any problem.

Is it easier to stay in Cancun and take a whale shark snorkeling tour from there? For a next week trip, you have to book far ahead of time? thanks!
