Give your friend this link. I know of few spearos in Jupiter who do not immediately float up their catch. Nuts!

Spear Fishing Bouys Safety Sausage

P.S. I just remembered his name. Lefty. :rofl3:

This diver wasnt anyone I knew. He shot a big jack and didnt stone it so that is where his problems started. By the time the fish was calming down, the sharks started in on him. He never got it off his shaft, instead he brought it to the surface by hand! He said one shark brushed him and took a bite of his fish, but there wasnt any evidence of this on the boat. I think they came very close and his eyes made it feel like they were even closer.
I had one close encounter in Jupiter, by the time I got the fish on the lift bag too many sharks were waiting. They got the fish on his way up, but at least I didnt loose the lift gear!

TruWest Parkas are awesome. I wrapped up in mine pulled the hood down and the salt spray ran off me and I was warm. Kimber got me into the big sale about a year ago...
