I just got back from Monterey and had what I would say is a good day. I bought a Helios 9 18W and after I was done I went over to the Aquarium and saw the 1 year old Great White Shark that's swimming aournd in the big tank...too cool. Thanks for the info on the Helious light. Now I'll take any advice you guys are giving on how to take good care of this baby! I know about the "Beer Koozy" thing but anything else?

All right!! Sweet buy! If you don't mind, what did you pay for it?

Some basic care tips are:

Treat it safe. Be gentle with your baby.
Only operate it in the water. Burn it for at least 4 minutes before turning it off.
Allow it to cool for 4-5 minutes before turning it back on. This extends bulb life.
Don't use it as a hammer, anchor, or anything else stupid.

You really don't need one but getting one of those H lens covers might make you a little more comfortable.

And, the best protection of all, keep that sucker in use! Yes, I know it looks cool, all nice and safe in your trophy case, but you gotta take it diving!

Have fun.
