The article does not mention divers onboard, but the vessel's FB page describes it as "custom-designed for dive cruises."

Malé, Maldives – IGMH informs that a 41 year old man has died after Safari “Handy Cruiser” capsized this morning.

The man is one of the seven people taken to IGMH in critical condition after the Safari vessel started sinking 4 nautical miles off Thilafushi, closer to capital city Malé. IGMH has stated that the deceased is a foreign national.

Local news reports that while passengers were thrown adrift after the boat sank, Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) has managed to secure all 17 passengers and transported them to the capital city Malé.

MNDF dispatched the Malé Area Coast Guard Squadron to the incident site at 08:39 this morning after receiving the report.

MNDF earlier today cautioned sea travellers after the Met Office released Yellow and Orange alerts for most of Maldives.
