Hey man,

I live in Israel and i've done a ton of liveaboards in egypt. I'm not on forums much, and dont really liek to type a lot. But feel free to PM me.. I most recommend diving the Straits of Tiran, Ras Muhammed is my second favorite, the more southern parts of the red sea i enjoyed a little less. If your interested in diving the red sea why not start here in israel and join a safari leaving israel!?! anyway, like i said, pm me if any of this interests you. i work at a dive shop but don't htink i'm allowed to advertise our safaris here, but a pm should do it.

good luck

My wife and I are thinking about possibly doing a live-aboard in the Red Sea next year, but are starting to look now. Do people know if May is a good month to go diving? Does anyone do a 10 day type live aboard tour, or are most 7 days? (If we did 7 days on a liveaboard, we'd probably try to do 3 days on land to relax before the long flight back to the U.S.) We're mostly interested in reefs and bigger fish/sharks/turtles. My wife isn't too much into the wrecks unless they have a lot of growth and fish around them. If we don't go to the Red Sea, we'd probably go to Wakatobi or Palau or somewhere else. Any suggestions you can give would be great.

Blue O Two gets our vote, that's why we charter with them! First class all the way!

I second the vote on Emperor Liveaboards they are top notch and based on the dives you like "Simply the Best" itinerary, last time I was there we had lots of sharks, leopard, hamerheads, black/white tip, thresher and lots of fish here is a 3 min video of the south area I did from my last trip YouTube - ‪Visions of the Red Sea‬‏
i would recommend a few days touring either Cairo or Luxor, I'd be glad to help with the arrangments or if you have any questions

The video is really amazing specially the Napoleon part. but I think if you had better source of light the video will be much better

Are you living in Cairo, or you were just visiting ?

Emperor Divers is fine operation but the company has declined to renew the leases on their best boats the past few years. You will still have a solid experience with Emperor but Blue O Two's fleet is much newer, with more long term staff than Emperor. Blue O Two owns all four of their vessels all built since 2006 and hold 24-26 passengers. The Blue Horizon liveaboard won Liveaboard of the year in the Red Sea for 2010. I book my Egypt Travel through a destination specialist Learning Through Travel who is based in the US (NY) and manages an office in Cairo. LTT has worked with every major liveaboard operation on the Red Sea including Emperor and now LTT sells primarily Blue O Two bookings since dive operator caters so well to American standards of diving. I have been on the Blue O Two Fleet and can attest to the quality of the boats. 10 day custom trips are offered occassionally and Simply the Best is your best bet for sharks and reefs.
