If you are around Clear Lake try Sport Divers of 45 south. They run a pretty good op. Stay away from the Paradise.

There are lots of good shops in the Houston area. Of course, there are some to stay awaty from as well. I have had good experience with Sea Sports Scuba and they have quite a few shops in the local area. Hope this helps. Good luck to your friend.

Which side of Houston?? Quite a bit of a trek if you choose unwisely.

Give us an idea of the area of town you're in. There are good and not so good shops all over the Houston area. These are the ones we frequent the most and that I can recommend.

If you're in Pearland, I'd go with R&D Scuba. Family run shop on Westheimer near the Beltway. Nice people and good prices. I think most shops in the area are using Twin Lakes in Manvel for open water dives so that's convenient.
