Has anyone tried these out? They are supposed to be a hybrid between the Mares Quattro and Volo. Curious to know how they compare in practice.

The fins that you are questioning are the Quattro Excel fins. You really can not compare the two because they are in two different fields. The Volo Powers, I found, have a more gentle kick, and the Quattro Excels, I found, gave me more of a glide. As far as which fin I prefer, it really depends on what you look for in a fin. Hope this helps.
I have a pair, they're the excel fin, except with a metal strip inside the 'tear drop' in the middle.
Stiff as hell so needs good leg muscles. They took me a few dives to figure out how to use the damned things effectivly, but they sure do go...
