Red Sea Shadow:
As far as I remember, you can dive Abu Dabbab from the coast as well. 2 dives there; one shallow (7 meters or something) and the other much deeper. The shallow one is the one where you can spot the dugong.

You're right. I'm looking at a sea chart here, and the Abu Dabbab reefs actually stretches from shore out to sea for quite some distance (several kilometres). Only been there via liveaboard when doing the warm-up dive coming from Galib heading south. So I guess we dived somewhere on the outer perimeter of the Abu Dabab reefs.
