We camped at Vortex and got tanks at 7AM, drove 15 minutes to Morrions Springs and was in the water before 9AM. It was very clear....not much fish or anything else to see, but the first dive was very clear.

Since its not very deep, we used less than a 1/2 tank in 45 minutes, so we did a 2nd dive around 10AM. The visibilty on the 2nd dive was terrible. All stirred up by swimmers and other divers.

I am so glad we got there early and had a good first dive.

I would suggest to be at Morrison springs early if you want a really clear dive.

get there early to beat the locals too- they'll ruin the entire experience when they get there in force.

Once school starts things die down considerably. That is if you go during the week. If you go on the weekend, then all bets are off.

A buddy of mine went to Morrison last Wednesday. I believe school started last Monday. He sent me a pic, and said that the water was great, and he almost had the place to himself. There was a handful of folks there, but no big deal. He arrived there around 3 or 4 in the afternoon. I didn't have that kind of luck in July. There was more people in the water than there was water!
