UK, Europe, and pretty much anywhere the main clientele/tourists aren't Americans

I think rivers' comment reflects the reality. Of course, there are a LOT of us Americans in the popular scuba-related destinations, and our presence has encouraged the growth of tipping.
 
I wear a G-Shock in addition to my computer, keeping it set on the 1:00 countdown timer. When the DM says "...pool's open, be back in one hour", I start the countdown running.
 
LOL, I've worn a G-Shock for years because I can't kill them, but it never occurred to me to wear it since I started diving. Good point! How deep can they go and keep on ticking?

Answering my own question: they can go a lot deeper than I can. I stopped watching the video clip at 200m.
