Both buddies must be comfortable with the technique, otherwise one would panic. Haven't done buddy breathing since OW training in 1993, so it was a little shocking for me to jump into it so quick.

Excellent point! Anyone wanting to try this drill would be best advised to become proficient and comfortable with buddy breathing first. Would you agree?

I agree that they need to be comfortable but maybe not proficient. It also depends on the individuals doing it. Some can be proficient at something but can’t adapt to something new happening. Others may just have been introduced to something and can adapt to it and other things happening very well.

To anyone doing this drill, if at all possible get someone to video tape you and your buddy doing the exchange it is can make for some very funny entertainment after all the stress is over!
