I'd highly recommend the Bare 7mm Arctic fullsuit with a 7mm Arctic Hooded Vest worn over the top. That's what I dive. I'm toasty in 50-60 degree water like what you'll have in San Diego. I dive that combination in waters temps down to the low 40s. I recently did two dives in 44 degree water, one at 46 minutes and one at 38 minutes. My lips were numb and I was chilly at the end, but this suit combination makes that kind of diving possible.
