Need Some Advise on My AquaLung Legend LX Supreme Rig

What happen if the new reg does not outperform your relatively old one? Mine work horse is 1997 vintage and I have yet to catch the bug of "up-grading".
If I have to replace everything when new standard comes out, I would be in big trouble.
Save the money for a diving trip or something useful(not necessary diving related).
