New From So. Cal.

I just got OW certified in May/June, and am starting my Advanced cert this weekend at Redondo canyon. I live in Upland, CA, and have been boat diving off Catalina, beach off Corona Del Mar, and also off Casino Point. I'm really hoping to do some beach dives off Laguna (Moss Cove, etc.), but it's tougher than I thought finding a buddy to dive with. I just joined a local club and hoping that will give me some opportunities. I worry a bit about just showing up solo on a boat dive, or just heading to the beach and asking to tag along. Not sure how experienced divers take to new guys. Anyway, if anyone in my area is interested in teaming up sometime, let me know.

Welcome to the pond. I think you will find the SoCal divers to be a pretty friendly group. Don't be afraid to attend a couple of meetings, sign up for a boat, go to the beach, and meet some new friends/buddies.
