Hola,

OK..Last Monday the wife and I officially moved from Honduras, C.A. to Miami. I am here on a 2 year assignment and I am living in Doral, Fl.

I want to get actively involved in diving but I do not know many divers in this area. I have in the past years dove in Miami out of Key Biscayne, Tavernier and Key largo .

I have visited three dive shops in the area but I still don't know anyone....

Interest:

-Find a couple of experienced dive buddies.
-Explore and learn about the diving options in South Central and North Florida
-Continue education (very interested in pursuing Tech Diving - Cave)
-Share experiences and knowledge of diving in Honduras (Bay Isalands, Cayos Cochino, Roatan, Utila, Belize, Omoa, etc)

SO help me out.....give me your comments and point me in the right direction.

AOW diver
200+ dives (all in warm waters :D )

Well I'm at UCF which is right in Orlando, we have a fair size diving club here, so if you are interested in doing any diving with us just let us know. Shoot us an email at diveucf@gmail.com and we will put you on the mailing list. As to the interest in cave we have several cave divers hanging around here, I'm sure they can help get you into it

Thanks! Cheeky.....you will be hearing from me.

Well if you decide you would like to try some beach diving, there is a decent sized group of us that do a lot of diving off the beach.
Oh, and welcome to the Conch forum and to Miami!
Any trip posted is an invitation to join the fun.
How about Ginnie Springs next weekend with some camping??

Hello Semita!

I work down your neck of the woods...
There are quite a few of us at work who dive as well.
Look forward to hooking up with you sometime.

Wys.

as well as keeping an eye out in the Conch forums, don't forget the Scubaboard Invasion of the Keys in July - there's a post and link somewhere....it was alot of fun last year.

I have heard allot about springs.....how far North are these located at?

How cold is the water and what level certification do you need?

Depends on where you go and what you plan on doing. There are plenty of springs that allow OW to Cave! Ginnie Springs, has the ballroom that is OW, and you can go partially into the Devils system without lights as OW.
Water temps are approx. 72° year round.
The springs are 3+ hrs north. Ginnie is 5.5 from my house.
