This is probably one of the best troll started threads I've read, we got a pretty clear picture of how Mike feels about training agencies, we've established that you should probably not be a self taught dive and you can get a class for $99, (Mike did you miss that one?) This has been a pretty good read.

LOL, just got back after a couple of days away but no, I didn't miss that one. It just might support some of the points I've tried to make. I would submit that while it's very likely that you can get certified for $99 by some hack somplace that it may not be very likely that you can obtain quality entry level training for that price.

I'm almost sure that a $99 certification might include at as much as $0.5 worth of training. Just for grins, price a PADI OW crew pack and equipment rental for the duration of the class (however short that class may be). I think you'll find that there isn't much (anything?) left to pay a good instructor to provide any amount of training. LOL if it sounds too good to be true, it usually is.
