Frankly, don't have the answer to the air charge- I rent tanks at $7. Too late at night for me or I'd get you their # or website. You'll be in my back yard & I certainly have no objections to kids- in fact I kind of like the little critters ( 3 grandkids, you see). I'll get you some decent info on fills & perhaps we can get together while your down!!

Thanks! I have found that most people don't own their tanks. We brought 14 back from Okinawa with us. Paid $10-$35 for each. Otherwise we probably wouldn't own ours either. You said you rent yours for $7?? Is that for 1 day? And what if you decide to do another dive? Do they fill them for free? Thanks again! And we'd be more than happy to go dive with ya!

In addition to the sites already listed, there is SE 8th Street in Pompano Beach. There is metered parking, shower, and lots of beach room for non-divers. Dove here last month for the first time in 30 years; boy, have the facilities changed!

K & S, in Pompano there is also 12th, just a bit south of 8th St. Regarding the Blue Heron Bridge, check out this webpage http://www.wadespage.com/D800DS06RF01.shtml
and regarding the Lauderdale by the sea (datura avenue) area, check out this website; it has a map of the dive site as well.

I've not dived the 8th street area in Pompano, but I've done the 12th St. quite a bit, and it's a much shorter surface swim to the buoy than at Datura (or Hibiscus), but the reef at LBTS is in nicer shape than the one in 12th st., although according to Gary, the reef at 8th st. is quite nice.

I'm always open to kids joining us - I have a 14 y/o and an 11 y/o. Even though the folks that live at L by the Sea are too humble to admit it, they're great folks and good, positive role models. When my family joins me here in June, I have no reservations about them joining the ScubaBoard group for our weekend outings.

Here are a few descriptions of the beach dive sites in the area in which you'll be staying. FYI, Datura and Hibiscus avenues are only one block apart, so are really different ends of the same reef site.

You may want to look throught the "Private Trips" folder for descriptions of our recent dives. You'll get a pretty good feel of the group dynamics and can read our dive reports on conditions in the area.

Welcome to South Florida!

OkiDiver:
Thanks a ton! Are you guys "kid friendly"?? Meaning: my 12 year old daughter is going with us. She already has 88 logged dives (shore, boat, drift, night, etc) so she is pretty darned experienced.. but I know that a lot of people don't like diving with kids and even more think kids shouldn't dive at all. And I understand AND respect that. Just let us know.
Kerry

Absolutely. My daughter is only a couple of years older, and has joined us on a number of our Scubaboard dives. She's actually the best diver of the bunch, and is the only one who can keep up with Jenny when it comes to air consumption.
