Welcome to SB. I've been away from the PNW for awhile, but will be back next month. Getting the drysuit was a pretty good move for diving in Puget Sound and points north, you'll be more comfortable I'm sure. If you've not dived in these areas previously, like Jack said, some sort of intro might be advisable...it can be challenging, often due to tidal swings. Hope that I'll see you out at one of the many local dive sites!

Meanwhile, something like this can come in handy...
http://www.toolworks.com/bilofsky/tidetool/

on an inexpensive, older Palm...use it to plan your dives, even out on the boat or at the site. Divers have run into trouble in Puget Sound not knowing what the tides were doing. Dive safe.

Regards,

Doc

Yes, everything in life is relative. It's more like Cooooooooooold! But, depending on your perspective.what doesn't kill you, makes you stronger. The cup is half full. Thanks for the greet!

Chad_Ordelheide:
Pac-northwest....Cooold!! I got my advanced Cert in the good old Puget Sound! Yeah, a drysuit is a good idea! Anyway, I'm not in Guam with nice bathtub temp water. Welcome to the board.

Good Luck, Chad

Hi Jeff,
I have been to Edmonds underwater park, three tree point, Redondo, Harper fishing pier, Titlow, and Les Davis. I have my Advanced but I have less than forty dives. I have not made it to Sunnyside although, last week I was up the street at Titlow!!!
I'm dealing with all types of newness. I think I'm going to change drysuits also.
usarmyjeff:
what sites you dive in the sound....most days youll find me at sunnyside.

Thanks for the greeting and I will complete my Profile. Never been to Texas.

DandyDon:
You sound like a go-getter diver. Glad you joined us...

Hello,

Warm clear water. Lots of colorful marine life, much sun, less dive gear. Give me a choice......yes, at least I think a drysuit is a must especially since I'm told the best diving starts in October. It's the suface intervals that will get you cold!

Kuehneuger:
Hello, I am also from the PNW. I am thinking of diving around here since I have not been in any warm water since 2002. I hear there is some great diving, but a drysuit is a must.

Thank you so much for the dive club info! My biggest challenge is current diving. I am consistantly refining my diving because I have less than forty dives and have crammed drysuit, deep diving, current diving, navigation, and night diving into those dives.

jackconnick:
Hi;

I dive around here a couple times a week. Lots of great sites locally, the San Juans and Canada.

I'm not sure of your cold water experience level and drysuit training. Conditions here can be challenging with limited viz and currents. If you're not sure of your abilities, then take a class, even a refresher.

Otherwise Seacrest or Redondo Beach are good starter places.

You're welcome to come check out my dive club; The Marker Buoy Dive Club . We're the largest in the area (200+ members) and have many dives every week. If you have some skills that need developing, we can point you in the right direction, and find like minded buddies.

Jack
