Just a quick update: almost three months later, I finally got my c-card. I have spent more time on email and phone calls than the bottom time of my checkout dives combined.

That makes me wonder if I shouldn't have received another card as well, for the new PADI specialty of Scuba Administrative Specialist: You learn how to search for a missing instructor in a foreign country, rescue incomplete paperwork, navigate a disorganized dive center, and dive deep into low-viz PADI bureaucracy...

In the meantime I have finished nitrox, the pool portion of dry suit, and I am getting my own rig together. And then it's down into the local Ohio quarries, and Honduras in July.

talk to one of the padi instructors that you have a good rapport with -- and work with him/her on creating it -- for 10% of the revenue on it :)
