Yes, very good point. This is especially useful when taking photos.
 
The biggest problems I see w/other divers is that they are way over-weighted. As a result, in no particular order: they blow through air, become reef-marchers, scull and swim w/their hands all the time, are closer to vertical than horizontal while swimming, and in general are not relaxed in the water.

With that said, PPB is a great idea. However, much of what you get out of it will depend on the instructor.

Like 'John_B' said, hovering is a key skill to master regardless of depth. Also hovering inverted is great for looking under ledges, photography near the bottom, and whatnot so as not to silt things up.
