Before you take a class, I'd suggest that you read The Underwater Photographer by Martin Edge (3rd Edition). It starts with the basics and works up from there. I've always found that a class means more to me if I've been exposed to the material and terminology previously. Then I understand better what's being discussed and absorp more.
 
i am looking at buying the Fuji F200 with housing etc... does anyone have an opinion on this camera as a first one to use while diving?
