+ recommendations for Kuranda Railway and the Skyrail cable car. It's been quite a few years since that trip, but wonderful, lasting memories!

If have a car - get yourself to Paronella Park Paronella Park - Cairns attractions and Cairns rainforest tours, Cairns Tourism at its best! North Queensland, Australia. Cairns tours daily. About 120km's south of Cairns but well worth the effort. Combine that with the Mamu Skywalk Mamu Tropical Skywalk | Welcome and you've got a full day sorted. Karunda is great - get the crepes, as they are as good as anything from France - they're at the top end of the markets. The markets at Port Douglas are quite good too. Everyone has covered most other things. Have fun!

Kuranda, Daintree and Atherton tablelands are the standouts IMO. If hiring a car follow wet pups advice - you need a roo bar. Depending on how much time you have and your budget, flight to Alice Springs is only 2.5 hours. If you could swing from reefs to rainforest to a really big red rock, you would have a pretty sampling of the diversity of Aus.
