Six of us went out on Saturday with Quiescence. Four dives. First to the Duane where there was a mild current, 60ft visability, and 79F at 102Ft. The guys seem to really like the wrecks. This was my fourth time on the Duane. It was meh— no sharks, no Goliaths…but it was MUCH better than being in the office.

Then three reef sites. Water 83F. Sites wher the big dive boats do not go so the locations had beautiful sea fans, sponges, and the coral looked healthy. Mild dives but for Southern Ledges where the current was ripping. The Cpt let us stay down for 60 mins on each reef dive.

Highlight:
Lettuce sea slug (I was thrilled— my first)
Turtles on the surface

Usuals:
Big Southern Sting Rays
Spotted Drum
Lots of big lobster
Morays
Crevelle Jacks
Big ball of minnows
Midnight parrotfish

Warm water, flat seas, good friends, great operation ( Quiescence)

Very nice thnx for posting

Quiescence has been spoken of positively a number of times on ScubaBoard; nice to see a new review of them. From what I've read from past discussions here, they're a small (6-pack) boat operation and don't put a 'free' guide in the water, but people who like smaller dive boats (and may have a group together who want more of a say in where the boat goes) may find them a fine match. Does all that sound still accurate?

Richard.

Sure those are jack Cravelle? They look like an epic school of permit to me? But I don't think I've ever seen that many permit, so I am kinda doubtful of my identification? The black pectorals, point me to permit.

I’d agree. I don’t believe they are Crevalle but more likely Permit or Palometa.

Viz looks nice in the picts. Question> Is Quiescence booking policy still that you must reserve the WHOLE boat,,or did you see any individual reservations at the dock? I've dove with them before and they were really good. Thx for the report !!

Hi Richard:

Yes, all accurate. Only clarification, you need to create the group (1 to 6 people). They do not group random people who wish to dive. So, you rent the boat and you organize your group. You discuss with the Cpt. where you want to go and if the conditions are right, you go there. Of course the Cpt. has ideas or suggestions.

I have dove with them 4 times thus far. 2 more dive days already planned. Great group. The prices have gone up. $850 for the full day; $495 for 2 dives (divided by the number of people on your boat).

Hi. Yes, the whole boat. You decide 1 to 6 people. No random strangers. You book the boat then organize your dive buddies. I have dove with them 4 times. 2 more times scheduled at this point.

Oh! Great. Let me look again. Thanks.

Thanks. Let me look again and see if I have a better photo. Appreciate it!
