We were looking to go back to Northern Borneo and I happen to see flights from KUL to Phuket were crazy cheap. So I thought hey, why repeat northern Borneo, why not go to Thailand and see Phuket, the surrounding islands, and do some diving there! So I started doing research; the more research I am doing I’m getting concerned May is a very rainy time to be diving in the Phuket area. I’m wondering if I should save Thailand for another time and go back to my original idea of diving over on the western side of northern Borneo? But! I don’t really mind the rainy season, normally that means the land is washing into the ocean and you have bad viz, but I am wondering is that how it is on the liveaboard for the Similan Island area? Do the islands have so much dirt that it affects the diving there, or are they more rocks and whether it’s raining or not it’ll still be clear and beautiful diving. I don’t mind the rain if the diving is still good, any thoughts on this?
For reference, we’re looking at diving May 11th, four nights, four days from the Sawasdee Fasai. Thanks in advance for any feedback you can provide!
