Other than the day I went diving at Sipadan, the weather was excellent. It was cloudy and a bit rainy that day near Sipadan island. But the vis was fantastic both at Mataking and at Sipadan. At Sipadan there were some strong currents but nothing a decent diver couldn't handle. No currents at Mataking at all. I was told that the weather isn't great in January but since we were there at the end of February it was fine.

I'm glad you made it to Sipadan too. I went to Mabul last year - it had long been on my bucket list and rate it very highly - my trip report is here for anyone interested (plus other stuff I did in wonderful Borneo)
