Lots of useful information, the general concensus seems to be along the lines of my own thoughts on the matter, Although I do confess I hadn't thought about renting for 50+ dives before commiting to purchases... but that does seem like a good Idea. I'm fairly sure that when the time comes, I'll be going with an SPG, followed by a wrist computer, then come back to an AI computer of some sort if I decide I really need it.

First thing is BC and Regs, and those are a little way off yet.

If you want to make it a little easier, don't think of it a "renting" gear. When you do rent try for the different brands and models, then you are "demoing" gear. When you rent cheap skis you are "renting" when you rent expensive skis you are "demoing".

But seriously, be patient. Spend the money on different rentals now rather that different purchases in the next fwe years.
