Pt Lobos is an awesome dive site. There is a bit of a surface swim to the better diving, but it is worth every minute.

That's so true. The swim/kick is actually kinda nice.

One mistake a lot of folks make at Pt. Lobos is to dive
the area in front of the launch ramp. It's rather boring.
You really want to hang a left and swim out towards the
mouth of the cove on the surface (there's an obvious
channel through the kelp). With 20 dives, I'd suggest
you swim half to 2/3s of the way through the kelp, and
drop, you'll be in 40-50 feet. Play around in the kelp bed
on either side of the channel. Be sure to save air to
swim back under the kelp at about 5'.

Yea, the reef that's in the center outer part of the mouth of the bay under a large kelp canopy is huge and amazing. I'm really into cool topography and that was awesome! I loved that dive but we were at about 70' so we were a bit out there (via Zodiac) On our second dive we kicked out and we droped further in from the mouth and the vis was dramtically worse.

Chuck, Thanks again for all the info on the launch ramp...it went off without a hitch...no pun intended.
