It's a possible failure point, especially for those using plastic buckles. Since I have a bunch of them at home (it was cheaper to get a pack of 10 from eBay than 1 from the LDS), and wear two on my belt, it's a no brainer to throw one in.

shellbird once bubbled...

I guess I got ya twice with my hyper-speed typing... sorry.

Oh, I'm not a slow typer per-se... It's that everyone feels like they have to stop by and yack for 10-15mins whenever I'm in the middle of typing a message :grrr:

I have a save-a-dive kit, but it's only for local diving... I'll take a smaller collection if travelling...

Things in my kit that I didn't notice mentioned:

spare reg
mini maglight
knife straps
bolt snaps
Immodium
nicotine gum [yea yea yea...I'm weak]
Yoke to DIN adaptor
lobster guage
silicon
#18 braided nylon
snorkel

That's all I can remember of the top of my head...

From memory:

- full set of hex keys for regulator plugs
- 6" adjustable wrench
- cheapo multi tool
- spare long/short LP hoses, LP inflator hose, HP hose
- HP, and both 3/8" and 1/2" LP port plugs for regs
- 1/2" to 3/8" port adapter
- zipties in several sizes
- yoke fitting to convert reg (want to replace with yoke adapter)
- HID battery fuses
- HID test tube/o-ring set
- silicone grease (should be O2 but haven't bought it yet)
- couple of chem sticks for unexpected night dive
- spare mask (not carried on dive)
- spare second stage (happen to have one!)
- wingnuts for backplate
- Halcyon bolts for ACB+ and backplate sotrage pack (although zipties work)
- a quarter to use as a screwdriver
- Dramamine non-drowsy
- DIN to yoke donut insert and oversized hex key for installing

I'm out of o-rings, but DIN regs reduces chance of that. Want to replace my mouthpieces on my older regs with newer comfy ones, and will relegate the old ones to kit. Springs straps, so no need to backup fin straps. These are mostly the things I've needed on dives or boattrips, or seen others need. I'm always adding stuff to the kit.

In addition to things that have been mentioned, I keep:

a pencil
a pre-paid phone card
a sharpie (permanent marker)
several lanyard slides
8 C batteries (for primary light)
6 AA batteries (for backup light, camera, etc)
A sharp knife
Bonine

- Fixed open-ended wrenches that fit my regs
- I have DIN valves with the screw-in inserts that convert them to yoke -- some shops seem to have an easier time filling them with the yoke converters screwed in.
- Rubber mallet and small piece of wood for knocking the boots off my tanks
- User manuals for most of my dive gear

O rings of different sizes! You can nearly always scrounge a standard O ring but the other sizes are a bit tricky....

Plus a lot of the other stuff already mentioned....
