Scuba Diving: Sport or Hobby

This means we're going to have to come up with a book like Miyamoto Musashi's The Book of Five Rings.

Maybe we'll call it The Book of Five Tanks.

right now, its just a hobby for me...but i wanted to elevate my skills in the future...get into underwater videography perhaps?

OK, how many of us have heard this from our non-diving friends? "you sure have an expensive hobby". I think of scuba diving as a sport and try to re-educate them. So tell me what do you think?

It's a way of life;.....better a bad day diving than a wonderfull day working!!!

Here is the Wikipedia definition.

"A sport has physical activity, side by side competition, and a scoring system"

I don't think that 1 out of 3 makes it a sport. My vote is for hobby.

I think it’s more of a hobby that a sport. Sports usually involve some sort of competition.

SPORT definitely to me and so much more! I don't know about the wikipedia? but i think it fit into the 3 online dictionaries i checked. Interesting replies though. Good question!
