Try a local army navy surplus store. The ammo boxes are metal and water tight. They can usually be had pretty cheap.
Yep. I turned two of them into first aid kids with a fancy paint job :)

I used a .30 cal can for a small kit, and a 40mm can for a large kit.

Ammo cans make great weight containers and save-a-dive kit containers too.

I'll bet those cans would work great for geocaching too, thanks for the idea!
