Don't know how relevant this is but: I was single and most of the time living alone from age 23 to 40. Yes I was "young" but anything could've happened to me then to kill me. I recently checked that I have 143 hours (that's about 6 days) logged underwater in 6.5 years. So if I do that for the next few years and every dive is solo it would seem the chances of say, a heart attack down there are pretty slim. Other problems, of course (besides serious entanglement) could most likely be solved easily on the 30' solo dives I usually do.
