No... he's not the one who opened up the holes that made it sink prematurely. Ask him about it and he minces no words about what happened and how. When I lived in the Keys, I verified his version a few times over.
I have heard others tell a similar story with different names.
 
The sinking of the Spiegel Grove sure did not work out per plan. Sinking upside down and then having massive resources to turn in on its side. I still can't believe how Hurricane Dennis turned it upright. What an amazing turn of luck for Key Largo. The reef on its side was a challenging dive. The upright wreck is a piece of cake.

It's becoming upright was foretold by one of our users. It was a tale of hydrology. There was massive cavitation on the lee side. He actually expected it to roll over at some point without the help of a hurricane.
