That's funny. I just took the first training day of rescue diver and one of the instructors had a dive flag on his calf.

I have always been interested in tattoos and started seriously considering getting one in my twenties. I thought about it, waiting for that temporary feeling to pass. It never did. I didn't get my first one untill I was 38 yrs. old and totally sure I wanted to permanently mark by body.

I now have five, two of which are marine related. An octopus on my upper left outer thigh and a Juv. Spotted Drum on my right foot. The one on my foot and an ankle one are the only ones visible to 'the public'. The others are descretely placed for my pleasure.

I like them and that's all that counts to me.

 Excellent! Now I've got to find a pscychiatrist to figure out what each persons observations tell us about their personality. I'm willing to bet that Uncle Pug's is going to be _really_ interesting. Good thing I don't know your name, so you're not in any danger of getting committed :)

I have three, two are dive related. A very large turtle with an aboriginal face on its shell. He's on my left thigh. His head peeks out below my shorts ;-} I also have three Chuukees dolphins on my right calf.

I have one rather large one on my right arm. It is not diving related though. I plan on getting a dive related one sometime this summer. I have about three different designs that I am trying to decide between. I want to make the right decision on what I want.

(That's a referance to the cavernmania thread - if you haven't seen it yet!)

Lyd and I are 38/37 yrs old and seriously considered tatoos during our recent adventure in French Polynesia. I mean, if you're going to get one - where better? Some of the local artwork is simply stunning. Unfortunately (??) we were too busy diving!

Lydia has the added dis-incentive of the Groucho Marks song...

I'll look forward to viewing your own personal Spotted Drum during Wreckmania.

Happy Diving,

Scuba-sass :)

The hardest part was a week later when the temperature started climbing and I knew I had another week or 2 before I could dive!

Hey Walter - I'm glad you like the song, my Lydia hates it! Her father teased her with it at every social event during her childhood.

For those who aren't familiar with the song, I found the text (sorry, I can't sing the tune into the PC!):

Oooooooh

Lydia oh Lydia, say have you met Lydia,
Lydia, the Tatooed Lady.
She has eyes that folks adore so,
And a torso even more so.

Lydia oh Lydia, that encyclopedia,
Oh Lydia the Queen of Tatoo.
On her back is the Battle of Waterloo.
Beside it the wreck of the Hespherous, too.
And proudly above waves the Red, White, and Blue,
You can learn a lot from Lydia.

La la la, la la la, la la la, la la la

When her robe is unfurled, she will show you the world,
If you step up and tell her where.
For a dime you can see Kankakee or Paris,
Or Washington crossing the Delaware.

La la la, la la la, la la la, la la la

Oh Lydia oh lydia, say have you met Lydia,
Oh Lydia the Tatooed Lady
When her muscles start relaxing,
Up the hill comes Andrew Jackson

Lydia oh Lydia, that encyclopedia,
oh Lydia the queen of them all!
For two bits she will do a mazurka in jazz,
With a view of Niagara that nobody has.
And on a clear day you can see Alcatraz.
You can learn a lot from Lydia.

La la la, la la la, la la la, la la la

Come along and see Buffalo Bill with his lasso.
Just a little classic by Mendel Picasso.
Here is Captain Spaulding exploring the Amazon.
Here's Godiva but with her pajamas on.

La la la, la la la, la la la, la la la

Here is Grover Whalen unveilin' the Trilon.
Over on the West Coast we have Treaure Island.
Here's Najinsky a-doin' the rhumba.
Here's her social security numba.

(whistles)

Oh Lydia, oh Lydia that encyclopedia,
Oh Lydia the champ of them all.
She once swept an Admiral clear off his feet.
The ships on her hips made his heart skip a beat.
And now the old boy's in command of the fleet,
For he went and married Lydia.

I said Lydia, He said Lydia

I said Lydia, We said Lydia

La La!
